John Jackson at Bethel Bridge

What a travesty that John Jackson has been told he has to move out of his houseboat at Bethel bridge

John is the sort of chap who will help anyone and Iam sure the Driffield Navigation Trust and all of the boat owners at Bethel bridge and all of the people who walk the bank at bethel bridge as John also assists in keeping the area looking nice are glad that he Is around as an unpaid guardian of the area

I am getting up a petition to send to the council to support John

If you contact me I will tell you where It can be signed this government has stopped hunting and now they are now starting on fishing what next no boating

It could be useful to post the 'terms' of your petition here ... I mean what exactly does the petition ask for the council to do?

According to the Look North report the other day, the issue is something to do with Planning Permission; the Parish Council seemed to be complaining that John's houseboat didn't look like a boat ... ? Does anyone know the full story?

John Jackson

I have written in the petition words to the effect of

We the undersigned would like to pledge our support for John Jackson to continue to live on his house boat at Bethel Bridge as he is doing sterling unpaid work as a voluntary guardian of the canal's well being for the Driffield Navigation Trust and also a welcome unpaid security officer for boat owners at both sides of the river at Bethel Bridge
