plans for dredging & silt disposal
Dredging
- Roy Sutton (Chief Advisor to the IWA) was commissioned to undertake a full volumetric survey of the silt in the canal. From theis detailed study, he then established a profile for the canal and accurately estimated the amount of silt that needed to be removed.
- ADAS (the former Government Testing Agency) were commissioned to undertake a series of chemical tests to see if any toxins were present and if the silt could simply be placed on the land.
- Land and Water (the major contractor responsible for removing the silt in Beverley Beck) has estimnated the cost and advised disposal sites for the silt.
