completed restoration projects

From 1979 to the late 1980's the Driffield Navigation Trust Commissioners undertook jointly with the Driffield Navigation Amenities Association numerous improvements including the rebuilding of the turntable abutments for Bethell's Bridge and the rebuilding of the wooden swing bridge and turntable, extensive repairs to brickwork at North Frodingham Wharf and Snakeholme Lock. Also rebuilt were the length of towpath below Town Lock, and the lower gates on Struncheon Hill Lock.

  1. Struncheon Hill Lock restoration began in 1982 ...
  2. Town Lock restoration began in 1993. It was re-opened in April 1996.
  3. Snakeholme Lock restoration began in 2000. It was re-opened in April 2003. (Though headroom in the top chamber will be limited to approximately 6'6" until the fixed bridge can be replaced.)
  4. Bethels Bridge restoration began in 2003. It was re-opened the same year. [?]
  5. Brigham Bridge restoration began in 2002. It was re-opened in April 2003.
  6. Whinhill Lock restoration began in 2005. It was re-opened in April? 2005.  (Though headroom in the top chamber will be limited to approximately 2' until the fixed bridge can be replaced.)
