from Scott Street Bridge to Stoneferry Bridge
Photographic Cruise up the River Hull - part 2: Scott Street Bridge to Stoneferry Bridge.
Photographs from a Cruise up the River Hull from the Humber to Hull Bridge on 28th July 2000, from the Narrow Boat Tame Valley on its return to the Driffield Navigation.
Part 2: Starting at Scott Street Bridge, via Chapman Street or Sculcoates Bridge, Wilmington Bridge, Recketts Chimney, the railway bridge and Isis Mill to Stoneferry Bridge.
Ship building still takes place, on the right hand side the double bottoms of a vessel in build, below the cranes. The vessels built at this yard are launched sideways into the river on a high tide.
Approaching Scott Street bridge. the bridge is permanently raised due to the its poor condition and possibly because of the unreliable water hydraulic system used to raise and lower the bridge.
Perhaps you can see from this picture, why this bridge is permanently up. It is rather rust ridden.
Looking back at Scot Street Bridge. Known by some of the older residents of Hull as "High Flags".

Recketts chimney comes into view, this chimney can be seen for miles around Hull.

Railway Bridge turntable. The last time I saw this bridge open (On a Hull Bridge Boat Club, Bridges Cruise) was with the assistance of a Commercial Vehicle Tow Truck.
