how to ... select appropriate forum categories
Choosing categories:
- When you create an article, you need to select which category or categories that you want your article to be listed in.
- For an overview, click on the 'articles' link in the top menu bar.
- Have a look through to decide which are most appropriate to your article.
- Choose selectively - do not list your article in every category becasue this will annoy other users.
Selecting categories:
- There is a drop-down list of forum categories after the title field on the article-edit page.
- To select a single category, click it and it should appear highlighted. If you click on another category, the previous one is automaticall de-selected.
- To select more than one category (multiple categories), hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard and click on each of the relevant categories in turn. You should now have more than one highlighted. If you want to de-select one of the categories but the rest of your selection, hold down CTRL and click on the one you want to de-select. It should now lose it's highlight and your other categories should still be selected. If you don't hold CTRL whilst doing this, all categories except the one you click will be de-selected.
- You can come back and change your categories at any time by using the article-edit page.
Editing categories:
- If you are editing an article, you can change the categories or leave them as they were previously set. Beware that selected categories are highlighted in the drop down-list, but as you have to scroll down to see the whole list, you may not see all the previous categories at a glance. If multiple categories are selected, and you click on a category without holding down the CTRL key, all the previous categories will be de-selected.
