overview of page layout
Every page on this site has 4 areas.
[screenshot.jpg - as img_map]
1 . First, there's the 'top menu' across the top of each page. It contains, from left to right,- the website name & logo (click to return to the home page)
- your basic section links : articles, discussiones, calendar ... these are all indices of content pages, but each has a characteristic emphasis.
2. The left menu contains menus based on your userID, your preferences, groups, priveleges etc. These are your 'personalised' links.
- your UserID block (or the log-in and Navigation blocks if you haven't logged in)
- 'My groups' (if you are logged in) links to the homepages of the website groups of which you are a member.
- if you are on a page that is managed by a group, you will see the group name here. It links to that group's homepage (for this page it's the website group)
- if you are a member o fthe group that manages your current page, you'll see a menu of actions and information related to that group.
3 The right menu contains navigation menus, which change depending on the page you are viewing, trying to show you 'further information'.
- the keyword search box always appears at the top of the right menu.
- beneath the search box there are differnt sets of links depending on the page you are actuallay looking at. For example:
- on handbook pages - shows other articles gathered into the same handbook - for this page it should be the 'website handbook'.
- on the contacts page - lists of newly registered users (so you can say hi) and user currently online (so you can say 'lo).
- on the calendar page - list of 'upcoming events'
- on group homepages, you'll see an index of the group handbook, users who have recently joined the club, and recent comments on articles tasked to that group.
- ... etc.
4. The actual content page document fills the middle of the screen. For a normal article page (obvioulsy index pages etc look different) it will look something like :
- title
- the document
- page sequence links
- authorship details (userID of author and date submitted)
- categories:
- actions:
- comments
