photos of Struncheon Hill Lock

Approaching Struncheon Hill lock cut from the River Hull, the weir to the right. This is the Head of the tidal section of the River Hull some 20 miles from were it enters the Humber estuary at Old Harbour.

Waiting for the lock to fill, the bottom gates were replaced and fitted by DNAA members in 1986 and have traditional BW paddle gear. The top gates were installed by Yorkshire Water and do not have standard BW paddle gear and a gate opening mechanism.
